To get started, say, “Alexa, open BBC Sounds.” When prompted ask for the name of the live radio station, programme, podcast or music mix that you want to listen to.
You now need to link your BBC account to listen. For more information on how to do this, search 'BBC Sounds Alexa sign-in.'
If you're having problems signing in, make sure you are on the profile to which you want to connect your BBC account. You can check this by saying "Alexa, who am I?"
If you're on the wrong account, just say "Alexa, switch account."
If you're still having problems, search 'BBC Sounds Alexa sign-in' for help.
To start playing live radio say, "Alexa, play [live radio station]. For example, "Alexa, play 6 Music.”
To start playing podcasts or music mixes say, "Alexa, ask BBC Sounds to play [name of content]. For example, "Alexa, ask BBC Sounds to play Radio 2 90s."
To play the first available episode of something say “Alexa, ask BBC Sounds for the first episode of [name of content]."
To play the latest episode of something say “Alexa, ask BBC Sounds for the latest episode of [name of content]."
To pause or resume radio or podcasts say, "Alexa, pause" or, "Alexa, resume."
To rewind live radio say, "Alexa, ask BBC Sounds to rewind to 8.15am," or, "Alexa, ask BBC Sounds to rewind 10 minutes." You can then fast forward by saying, "Alexa, ask BBC Sounds to fast forward 5 minutes."
To rewind or fast forward or podcasts say, "Alexa, ask BBC Sounds to rewind 20 minutes," or "Alexa, ask BBC Sounds to fast forward 5 minutes."
To try something new you can ask for one of our many categories - say, "Alexa, ask BBC Sounds for dance music," or, "Alexa, ask BBC Sounds for classical."
To navigate between episodes you can say, "Alexa, next," or "Alexa, previous."
To find out what song or programme is currently playing on a live station say, "Alexa, ask BBC Sounds what's playing."
